World best transportation, Najib don’t be so pleased

BY DR DZULKEFLY AHMAD
I am also happy about the study conducted by the World Economic Forum (WEF) has ranked Malaysia 11th in the world in private and public transport infrastructure.
However, the joy is not long when studies by Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) in the latest survey about the satisfaction level of public transport users showed that 48 per cent of public transport users do not intend to use public transport in the future.
Najib also have to admit that the satisfaction of public transport users has also decreased by 13.95 percent compared to the previous year.
This is because the majority of people feel that the cost of transportation is expensive, not timely schedule and the subject ‘connectivity’ which clearly reflects the failure at the planning stage.
In addition, fears of manipulation in the management of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) increasingly felt by the public. I reiterate our insistence that KTMB and the Ministry of Transport immediately disclose the KTMB Annual Report for 3 years. Where does RM11.69 billion of public money spent?
Hence, it is important for Najib’s Government to not be so satisfied and return to the reality of the hardship faced by the people today.
Transportation is an important component in the basket of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) that the latest boost to the level of 5.1 per cent in March. This is the highest recorded since 2008, since recorded the CPI to a level of 5.8 percent.
Return back the reasonable transportation costs accordance to the people’s economic burden.
Another thing immediately disclose the KTMB annual report and don’t give excuses anymore.  .
