Change needed to stop dengue case rise

BY: SYAZWANI SUFIAN
KLANG, MAY 28: The public is urged to change their attitude regarding the cleanliness of their housing area as it is the main cause behind the increase of dengue cases.
Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Secretary, Adil Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said the lackadaisical attitude of some people about the cleanliness of their area is the main factor behind the rise in cases.
“There are a few areas around Klang where I have noticed that residents have a total disregard about the cleanliness of their homes.
“At the municipal council level, we conduct cleaning duties at residential areas, but we do not have the power to enter any house without the approval of the owners.

“As such, the owner of the premise or the residence need to cooperate and care so that we can be free of the dengue threat,” he said during the Peduli Rakyat Carnival at Dewan Orang Ramai, Taman Eng Ann, Klang recently.
Faizal said the council has always planned for future needs in order to ensure the best service for the conservation of the environment.
“We don’t only appoint contractors but we also monitor the areas under our jurisdiction ourselves.
“Although there have been reduction in cases but we still need to continue monitoring and destroying potential Aedes breeding sites,” he said.
