SHAH ALAM, MAY 10: The Food Stamp Basic Food Aid Programme should be enhanced and improved through many ways which can be reviewed.
Sri Muda Assemblyman, Shuhaimi Shafiei said, the method can be reviewed including house-to-house delivery for recipients without transportation.
He said, central distribution practiced currently causes some difficulties for recipients to be present to accept it.
“We understand that the cost for distribution will increase a bit but we can limit it to only a certain group.
“Some recipients are prepared to take busses and taxis to receive the aid every month. This is difficult for them,” he said to SelangorKini at the aid distribution ceremony for April, at Dewan Kencana, today.
Shuhaimi said, the home delivery is being done by his staff to the disabled and the elderly.
“However, the staff rotate this duty every month and it is difficult for those who already has other duties,” he said.
At the ceremony, there were 100 recipients for the fourth month this year.
Shuhaimi said there are 200 applications which are eligible for this aid in his area.
“Based on our own initiative, we rotate and provide other aid every three months to them,” he said.
