INVEST signs MoU with Victoria Australia

KUALA LUMPUR, MAY 22: Invest Selangor Berhad (INVEST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Victoria State Government, Australia, to cooperate in the fields of communication and information technology, food and agro-business as well as education and training.
Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco, Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the cooperation is consistent with the State Government’s intention to turn Selangor into a high-tech industrial hub, including e-commerce, aerospace and biotechnology, for South East Asian countries (ASEAN).
“As the most progressed state in Malaysia, Selangor must take this opportunity and be the agent of change, otherwise we will not be able to compete in the arena of global economy.

“We truly welcome our friends from Victoria and with this cooperation, we are taking a step forward and together support the latest technology,” he said.
He said that in his welcome speech at the INVEST and Victoria State Government MoU Signing Ceremony at Istana Selangor today.
INVEST was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Hassan Azhari Idris while Victoria was represented by its Victoria Southeast Asian Commissioner, Brett Stevens, witnessed by Chang Kim and Victoria Technology Development Sector Director, Kathy Coultas.
Meanwhile Kathy said, she is very excited with the cooperation and hopes that it will mutually benefit both countries particularly in the technology sector.
“I believe we have many things in common including opportunities and challenges, but I am certain these will produce better understanding and cooperation to achieve the MoU objective,” she said.
This is the second MoU signed by INVEST in a week, after the first, signed with the Free State of Bavaria, Germany recently.
Chang Kim said, the first MoU was signed to encourage cooperation in the fields of automation and robotics, industry 4.0, internet of things and big data, aerospace as well as biotechnology.
Witnessed by Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, that MoU was signed by Hassan Azhari, representing INVEST and Bayern International CEO, Joachim Heussler.
Bayern International is a market development and trade promotional agency for the Free State of Bavaria.
