Job opportunities in Selangor between 2014-2016 under Azmin Ali

Since Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali took over as Menteri Besar Selangor in 2014, job opportunities have increased to over 300,000. There are more women and high-skilled workers involved in the job market in Selangor compared to anywhere else in Malaysia.
The latest official information from the Malaysian Statistics Department showed that between 2014 to 2016, employment in Selangor increased by 305,300 jobs i.e. from 2,912,300 jobs in 2014 to 3,217,600 jobs in 2016.
In the same period, job opportunities in Malaysia increased by 631,600 jobs, which means the growth of 305,300 jobs in Selangor represented almost half or 48.3 percent of the total increase in Malaysia between 2014 to 2016.

Selangor recorded an impressive growth of women in new jobs taking up over half or 55 percent of new jobs in Selangor compared to only 40 percent of new jobs in Malaysia.
In addition, women in workforce in Selangor increased from 40.3 percent in 2014 to 41.7 percent in 2016. This means when job opportunities grow in Selangor, women’s involvement in the job market expand.
Under Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin, Selangor has witnessed more highly skilled workers such as managers, professionals and technicians entering the job market. High-skilled employment opportunities in Selangor also increased more than 16 percent from 2014 to 2016 compared to national growth of 13.5 percent in the same period.
By 2016, almost 40 percent of the 3.2 million workers in Selangor are described as highly skilled. One-third of the total highly skilled workers in Malaysia works in Selangor.
This statistics shows that Selangor is a state that provides opportunities and skills.
The digital economy innovation in the Smart Selangor initiative, as announced in the 2016 Selangor Budget, makes Selangor a smart state.
Selangor continues to provide opportunities to empower women to grow as skilled and dynamic workforce, who help Selangor become the key player in the ASEAN regional trade network.
