Kampung Klang Gates to get double-storey mosque

HULU KELANG, MAY 26: Kampung Klang Gates Baru will get a new mosque when the State Government and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (JAIS) approve its application.
The double-storey mosque will cost RM19 million and will be constructed on the old mosque’s site which is almost 2 acres.
Architect In Charge, Selangor Public Works Department, Architect Division, AR Zainal Mat Rais said the new mosque can accommodate a congregation of 2,500 people in one time.
“The mosque compound will also be equipped with 6 ‘madrasah’ classes, four imam and bilal’s quarters, funeral room and an office.
Based on a modern contemporary concept, the mosque will also be provided with 70 parking lots for cars and 80 for motorcycles.
Demolition of the old mosque is expected to be done after the Aidil Fitri Celebration.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who also listened to the briefing for the new mosque’s construction said, he will monitor this project to ensure it is done on time.
According to him, the existing mosque is over 50 years old, it’s been there ever since he and his family moved to Kampung Klang Gates Baru in 1968.
“This year, we (State Government) are giving a big budget to JAIS with RM289 million for administration and RM128 million for approving development.
“The development of Muslim community is given priority. Like I have said before, the development of mosques, surau and religious schools will strengthen the Muslims in the future,” he said.
