Motorcycle overhead bridge well received

BY: NORHAYATI UMOR
PETALING JAYA, MAY 8: Taman Medan Assemblyman, Haniza Talha is pleased with the construction of the motorcycle overhead bridge from PJS 1 to Seksyen 1 which has been approved by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).
She said RM6 million has been allocated to build the bridge across the New Pantai Expressway (NPE).
“Many PJS 1 residents work in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur, so this is the easiest and fastest route to go across.
“Due to that, many accidents have been reported on the existing narrow bridge, while motorcycles coming down from it risk being run over by cars,” she said during her visit to the site recently.
Haniza said the existing overhead bridge was built 16 years ago and is now run down and dangerous.
She said that she has written to the State Government, Malaysia Highway Authority and NPE Management with request to build the second bridge.
“The Datuk Bandar has informed me that my application to build a new motorcycle overhead bridge across NPE is approved.
“Now, MBPJ is in the process on appointing consultants and surveyors,” she said.
