RANTAU PANJANG, MAY 27: As many as 79 people from the Sungai Pinang constituency receieved the benefits of the Smart Selangor Food Stamp and  Peduli Sihat Card programmes that are the State Government’s initiatives to help the rakyat through social programmes.
Sungai Pinang Assemblyman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said this would help reduce the burden of families that are have a household income of less than RM3,000.
“Since being introduced a year ago, selected citizens have received Food Stamp aid almost every month.
“The state government hopes that with this aid it will help reduce the burden of those who are facing unstable economic times,” he said in a speech at the Smart Selangor Food Stamp programme at Dewan Orang Ramai Palembang, Rantau Panjang recently.
At least 35 families received food stamp aid, while 44 others received the Peduli Sihat card.
Teng said that the programme was only two of the 19 Peduli Rakyat Initiatives (IPR) that was launched since Pakatan ruled Selangor in 2008.
“Selangor is the first state that is capable of implementing such programmes.
“This can happen because we successfully planned and implemented a sound financial administration,” he said.

Meanwhile food stamp recipient Noor Paezah Ramli, 46, said the programme would go a long way to help alleviate her grocery costs.
“Alhamdulillah, since it was launched last year, I have received the aid every month.
