Teachers are main pillar in a democratic country

Teachers’ Day celebration is back every May 16 and all educators in Malaysia will be celebrating it.
Teachers are individuals with wide knowledge, highly skilled in their fields and has admirable personalities and the ability become role models.
Teachers today are the main pillar in our democratic country.
Public servants including teachers are rightfully entitled to criticise government policies which are considered as neglecting the citizens’ interests.

Moreover, Malaysia is now tarnished with the cultures of corruptions, power abuse and cuts in education budget.
Weren’t Grade DG41 to DG48 graduate services education officers allowed to enter politics since August 1, 2010.
This step is consistent with the fact that teachers play a key role in leading the society in the nation’s political scenario.
I believe teachers who engage themselves in politics still prioritise their job and their focus which is to educate.
I would like to wish all teachers a Happy Teachers’ Day.
