BY NORHAYATI UMOR
AMPANG, JUNE 21: A total of 46 new compactors were handed to sub-contractors to facilitate domestic waste collection in the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) area.
KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) General Manager, Ramli Mohd Tahir said the trucks will be delivered in stages within a month.
He said, so far, eight compactors have been delivered to the subcontractor.
“We don’t want to wait too long as we don’t want to disrupt the collection process. We expect that after the Aidilfitri celebration, 38 more trucks can be delivered.
“The truck delivery is consistent with KDEBWM’s commitment to bring changes and reforms to solid waste collection service to be more effective and efficient,” he said to SelangorKini.
Prior to this, KDEBWM offered all new compactors equipped with the latest technology to three Local Authorities.
Among them are the Automatic Vehicle Locating System (AVLS), reverse camera and CCTV controlled and monitored from a Centralized Command Center (CCC).
All these sophisticated and latest technologies available in the compactor truck are consistent with the Smart Selangor aspiration and initiatives.
Earlier, KDEBWM had signed a seven-year Domestic Solid Waste Management Service Agreement with MPAJ.
Also present were Menteri Besar Incorporated Chief Executive Officer, Raja Shareen Raja Othman and Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) Deputy Director, Dr Fahmi Ngah.
