Don’t just deny, sue if not right

BY AMINUDIN HARUN
I took note of the Communication and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak’s statement asking the people in this country not to believe the Sarawak Report.
We are all well aware of the constricted freedom of media in this country that is it monopolised only by Umno BN government.
In fact, up to this second, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah has yet to issue any statement to comment on the Sarawak Report’s allegations on the issue of the RM9.5 million.
Is it not that any exposure of wrongdoing in foreign medias are usually supported with documented proofs, but ministers often merely deny the allegations verbally.
How can the citizens believe them? If those allegations are untrue, they should sue. How long will the citizens in this country be cheated?
What about the Wall Street Journal’s (WSJ) report that the American government has confiscated a luxury apartment in London which was allegedly bought with 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) fund.
In fact, the American Department of Justice (DoJ) has filed a suit last June 7 to confiscate properties which are believed to have been purchased with money stolen from 1MDB.
This is a much talked-about case overseas but it’s a ‘closed book’ in our own country.
Who can citizens believe?
