MAS mum about employee issues

SHAH ALAM, JUNE 12: Management of the national carrier, Malaysia Airlines had failed to explain its actions on reducing the workforce in the plane.
National Union of Flight Aviation Malaysia (NUFAM) said they are still waiting the response from Malaysia Airlines regarding their action as it gives additional workload to the crew.
According to the joint statement of the Complaints Bureau Company Aviation Workers (BATW), every Malaysia Airlines planes were reduced from one to two crews on every flight.
He said thereby affecting employee performance as well safety in flight.
“We have received many complaints regarding the issue of workplace stress, which has not taken action.

“When Malaysia Airlines reduced its workforce, the crew had to shoulder a heavier task, even the crew on duty overseas are not getting enough rest,” he said.
More worryingly, there is a barrier of Malaysia Airlines management that is difficult to allow crew members to take holidays by reason of lack of manpower.
“A letter dated June 7 has been sent and we are still waiting for their answer,” he said.
Since 2015, Malaysia Airlines reduced its workforce from 3,900 to 2,500 even though the manpower needs is still not enough.
Meanwhile, the statements also revealed NUFAM and BATW will prolong the problem to the Ministry of Human Resources to find a solution.
