BY LIZAWATI MADFA
SHAH ALAM, JUNE 21: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) distributed 400 adult helmets and 150 child helmets for free in conjunction with the Balik Kampung Beraya Dengan Selamat 2017 campaign yesterday.
Its Corporate and Public Relations Head, Shahrin Ahmad said, the campaign which was started since 2010 is MBSA’s commitment to educate the community on road safety and the importance of using a helmet.
He said, it also ensures riders and pillions use certified helmets the correct way.
“Through this campaign, the new helmets are distributed to the public by exchanging them with their old ones that do not meet safety specifications.
“We hope that this give the public particularly motorcyclists the awareness to be more careful to avoid road accidents,” he said
The ceremony where Datuk Bandar, Dato’ Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad distributed the helmets was held in Padang Rakyat, Kampung Jalan Kebun, Seksyen 30.
A total of 400 adult helmets and 50 child helmets were contributed by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd (SIRIM) while MBSA topped up with another 100 child helmets.
All helmets meet the SIRIM safety standards.
