PR1MA and PPA1M’s privileges will be withdrawn if Putrajaya remain hostile

BY AFIX REDZUAN
SHAH ALAM, JUNE 23: The privilege granted to the Perumahan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (PR1MA) and the Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1 Malaysia (PPA1M) will be withdrawn if the federal government continues to take a confrontational stance with the Selangor Government on the issue of housing.
Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco, Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad PR1MA and PRA1M have the same privilege as Rumah Selangorku which is a density of up to 120 unit of homes per acre, whereas a normal development has density development of 30 to 70 unit of homes per acre.
He said the proposal to withdraw will be tabled at the Exco Meeting and applications from PR1MA and PPA1M to increase density will be frozen until a new decision is made.
“We are always open to cooperate with the Federal Government with housing issues but they are always confrontational on several issues such as Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Taman Putra Permai, Lembah Subang.
“The State Government want political sentiment to be put aside on issues relating to the people’s welfare such as housing but the Federal Government particularly ministers involved seems to prefer to play politics,” he said.
ISKANDAR SAMAD
Iskandar said, the step is not to stop PR1MA or PPA1M from carrying out projects in Selangor, on the contrary it is because the Federal Government is more interested to attack rather than solve the people’s problems.
He said, the State Government welcomes Federal Government’s housing development projects in Selangor, as long as it complies with the Local Plan (RT) of the respective local authorities.
“For PPR, the Federal Government is adamant to takeover its development and refuse to entertain the State Government’s claim on maintenance and repairs which have been spent on,” he said.
