RM9.5 million scandal: Keadilan Youth lodges police report

BY LIZAWATI MADFA
SHAH ALAM, JUNE 5: Keadilan Youth (AMK) has lodged a police report today relating to allegations that lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah had received RM9.5 million of SRC International’s funds from the Prime Minister.
AMK Leader, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said, the authorities must conduct immediate investigation while Shafee should ‘rest’ from cases involving Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said, there are four questions relating to the claims which must be cleared, if Sarawak Report’s claims are true.
“What is the purpose of Datuk Seri Najib Razak paying Shafee RM9.5 million and is the money relating to Anwar’s sodomy case?
Nik Nazmi
“Who else received payment from SRC money through Najib’s personal account?” he said as quoted by Malaysia Kini.
Earlier, Nik Nazmi was present in the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) together with KEADILAN Communications Director, Fahmi Fadzil and AMK Religious Bureau Chief, Wan Ji Wan Hussin, at around 11 a.m.
Sarawak Report had claimed that Najib paid the money from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) subsidiary to Shafee on September 11, 2013 and February 17, 2014.
Nik Nazmi said, AMK is also prepared to consider to lodge the same report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Corporation (MACC) and the Bar Council.
He said, Najib and Shafee will possibly continue to be silent.
“He (Shafee) is a lawyer and lawyers have their professional code of ethics,” he said.
