UNISEL launches new campus in Bangladesh this August

BY ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SHAH ALAM, JUNE 5: The Selangor University (UNISEL) will launch its new campus in Dacca, Bangladesh this August and it will be opened in September.
UNISEL Academic, Research and Network Industry Vice Chancellor, Profesor Dr Mokhtar Abdullah said, its operation is expected to provide the opportunity for State Government owned institution to expand regionally.
He said, UNISEL was invited by the Institute of Learning (INSIGHT) to open an educational centre there to give opportunity for the local children to further their studies.
“For the record, there are about 700,000 Bangladesh students who complete high school and there is an urgent need for an additional education centre to be opened there.
“Therefore, they chose UNISEL and certainly this confidence is driven by the strong commitment in the university’s administration as an educational institution that is fully supported by the Selangor Government,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.
He said, more than 95 percent of the university’s development process is complete and the final touch-ups will be completed before August.
He said, 500 new students is expected to register for the first semester of UNISEL’s operation.
“We have yet to discuss placements for Malaysian students particularly Selangor children in this new campus but there are plans to have exchange-student programme between both campuses,” he said.
