IWB enhances women’s role, keep Selangor sustainable

SHAH ALAM, JUL 5: The Empowered Women’s Institute (IWB) is commited to help the government formulate policies and strategies to empower women towards a more inclusive, sustainable and fair Selangor.
It Advisor, Zuraida Kamaruddin said, IWB also aims to enhance women’s socio-ecomony besides speeding up their abilities in leadership and decision-making.
“IWB helps to provide the opportunity for idea brainstorming and strategic discussions to enhance women’s role in formulating new policies and initiatives which are more progressive.

“It is to promote the image of women in this state and put Selangor as an example of a women-friendly state,” she said.
Commenting further, she said, since officially operating last April, IWB has mananged to formulate the Selangor Women’s Policies and Action Plan for 2017-2020 as the State Government’s roadmap for the development of women in the state.
It comprises of seven goals that encourage the development of gender-sensitive framework, improving the socio-economic status and autonomy of marginalised women and to bridge the gender gap at all levels and aspects of the labor market.
“It also includes accelerating women’s participation, representation and decision-making in public and political life and to improve their health, well-being and mobility besides being free from violence and fear and expressing their creative talents,” she said.
The Ampang Member of Parliament added that IWB’s Selangor Women’s Policies and Action Plan for 2017-2020 will be launched by Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali this August.
