JKR Selangor’s budget increased RM400 million for citizens’ comfort

BY NAZLI IBRAHIM
KAJANG, JUL 18: The State Government is striving to ensure that sufficient budget is allocated to its agencies that develop infrastructure in the state to provide comfort for its citizens.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, these agencies include the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR) and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS).
“In 2016, we allocated RM373 million to JKR Selangor and this year, the amount is increased to RM400 million for infrastructure development for the rakyat.
“This huge expense is most significant as it relates closely to the economic growth rate,” he said.
He said this when officiating Bandar Baru Bangi – Kajang 2 – Bandar Teknologi Kajang Multi-level Interchange at the Kajang 2 Multi-level Interchange, today.
He said, this relation can clearly be seen when Malaysia was actively developing its infrastructures in the 1980s for the industrial sector and practiced the look-east policy.
He said, at that time, the development and the look-east policy at that time had led to the country having a perfect infrastructure which attracted many foreign investors.
“The presence of foreign investors at that time were the important factor that boosted the country’s economy on the 1990s,” he said.
