Selangor Government’s financial department and agencies are well managed

KUALA LUMPUR, JUL 31: The National Audit Department reported that Selangor’s 16 financial departments or agencies are financially well managed with seven ranked as excellent.
Auditor-General, Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad said, another seven departments or agencies were ranked as good while another two were satisfactory.
“These state’s departments or agencies can further enhance their financial management level by taking improvement measures.

“Such measure is by organising continuous training programmes to officers involved in financial management to enhance their knowledge and competency,” he said.
Based on the 2016 Series 1 National Auditor-General’s Report, the State’s Treasury is at the top of the rank at 96.88 percent followed by the State Government’s Secretary’s Department (96.20%) and Sepang Municipal Council (96.12%).
Two departments that received satisfactory ranking are the Veterinary Department with 75.47 percent followed by Selangor Islamic Religious Department which received 75.36%.
The National Audit Department also recommended the heads of departments to be more hands-on in their approach and to conduct regular inspection.
Disciplinary action should also be imposed on officers who fail to carry out their respective responsibilities.
