Smart Selangor Farm encourage modern farming

SHAH ALAM, JUL 3: The Smart Selangor Farm project is a new step to encourage agricultural industry in the state particularly for urban people.
Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries Exco, Zaidy Abdul Talib said the project will be developed in every district as an example to the public to venture into commercial agriculture based on modern technologies.
“The Smart Selangor Farm is more towards commercial by encouraging the use of modern technology through the fertigation concept.

“In this concept, 1 acre of land can be plated with 1,000 polybags that can generate revenues. So far, we have identified a location for every district in Selangor,” he said.
He said, the model will be worked on a one-acre land with a budget below RM50,000 and can be expanded.
In addition, the State Government is also willing to provide a temporary occupation license (TOL) to entrepreneurs interested in operating cash crops on government-owned lands to get revenue.
“This move is expected to become a new branch for the State Government to increase revenue since the community and the city areas have limited agricultural area,” he said.
Local authorities have been encouraging people to work on community land based on partnerships which are mostly cultivated a small plot in residential areas.
