Almost 5 million tourists have visited Klang this year

KLANG, AUG 16: The Royal City of Klang, a city which was the capital of Selangor at one time, is now the most important tourist destination in Selangor due to the increasing number of tourists annually.
The city full of historical heritage has also been gazette with Visit Klang Year this year.
Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Yang Dipertua, Dato’ Mohamad Yasid Bidin said, since last July, almost five million visitors were recorded in the district in conjunction with Visit Klang Year 2017.
He said, Heritage Walk, Royal Museum and Guan Yin Temple are among the attraction which contribute towards the increasing tourists.

“Based on data recorded, Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery 5,600 registered 5,600 tourists; GM Klang wholesale store 1.3 million and Bousted Cruise Centre 130,000.
“While Pulau Ketam recorded 2 million visitors; City Heritage Tour recorded 1.3 million and Shah Alam Palace recorded 3,500 visitors,” he said to SelangorKini.
Yasid said, the Visit Klang Year 2017 is described as successful since the number of visitors has exceeded target.
“So far, the number of visitors in conjunction with Visit Klang Year 2017 has been very encouraging. We also formed a Tourism Sub-committee to help attract more people to visit Klang,” he said.
Yasid had also informed that the level of cleanliness and Klang River’s conservation played the most important role in the effort to promote Klang as tourism product.
He said, tourist arrival increased when Klang, including the Klang River itself, now offers a more attractive and clean atmosphere.

Among the activities that run all year round are Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk, Jom Berkelah, ‘We Love Klang Treasure Hunt’, Pulau Ketam tour, ‘selak tirai’ fishing competition, Klang Arts Festival, Jambatan Kota photography contest, classic bicycle ride and We Love Klang Food Festival.
Among the interesting tourism products in Klang are the Alam Shah Palace, Royal Gallery, GM Klang Biggest Wholesale Centre in Southeast Asia, Royal Klang Heritage Walk and Boustead Cruise Centre.
In 2015, the district received over 5.2 million visitors in seven attractive locations in Klang which increased to 7.9 visitors in 2016.
