SHAH ALAM, AUG 25: The Selangor University (UNISEL) opens its doors to the public for them to evaluate themselves how far the State Government-owned institution has achieved.
Its Academic and Professional Association President, Profesor Dr Mohd Zaidi Mohd Hajazi said, they decided to be ‘open’ to guarantee that UNISEL’s integrity is intact in delivering its responsibility in driving the state’s educational agenda.
He said, the initiative is also taken to prove that there is no misuse of power and to refute the negative allegations by certain parties towards the institution.
“We at UNISEL, welcome the public to come into our campus in Shah Alam or Bestari Jaya to evaluate our rapid development and the university’s excellence yourself.
“We stand firm that UNISEL’s administration has no issue as we always hold on to the principles of integrity and openness.
“Therefore, there is nothing to hide,” he said to reporters at the media conference at UNISEL main lobby, Shah Alam Campus, this morning.
Recently, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Corporation raided the campus over a contractual dispute with a former contractor, Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd.
The raid was over a complain of misappropriation, lodged by a certain party to tarnish the State Government’s credibility.
Following that, the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) threatened to take legal action on those who has alleged that he is involved in bribery related to its payment to Jana Niaga.
MBI Selangor was quited by media to deny paying RM60 million to Jana Niaga and the court has never decided that the company nor UNISEL is guilty.
MBI Selangor said, the claims that the contractor was being paid although it breached the contract and failed in its claims for arrears, are not true.
