NTH 2.0: SelangorKini photographer shoved, kicked

BY NAZLI IBRAHIM
SHAH ALAM, AUG 14: Media personnel who were covering the Nothing To Hide 2.0 (NTH 2.0) programme at Dewan Raja Muda Musa were no exception to be victimised by the act of irresponsible parties who purposely sparked riot at the event.
Among them was SelangorKini photographer, Shuaib Ayob, 29, who was kicked and pushed on his left kneecap by an individual who was unhappy that his photo was taken.
Recounting the incident, Shuaib said, the pushing started outside the hall due to a misunderstanding between that individual and security personnel who thought his brother was involved with the riot in the hall.
“When I saw the pushing and shoving, as usual I tried to capture the tensed atmosphere involving a man who was angry when his brother was arrested by the programme’s security team.

“My action and that of several other photographers made him angrier and pushed at our cameras before one of them kicked my left kneecap,” he said to SelangorKini.
Shuaib said, that individual’s brother was finally released after being questioned by the members of security team.
He said, he was not seriously injured but left the area with several other photographers to prevent the situation from becoming more tense.
Freelance reporter, Radzi Razak, 32, were also reportedly injured due to a fall when trying to avoid a chair thrown by the rioters.
Radzi who was not seriously injured was brought to Shah Alam Hospital for outpatient treatment.
Meanwhile, a Chinese newspaper reporter told SElangorKini that the flares thrown by the rioters fell next to him.
“I was shocked but luckily it did not hit me,” he said.
