Only 29% support the Federal Government

SHAH ALAM, AUG 29: The survey conducted by Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE) found that 49% of Malaysians agree that Selangor Government’s administration is excellent while only 29% agree to the same for the Federal Government’s administration.
The Citizens’ Mood Survey Ahead of the 14th General Election results were presented by IDE Deputy Chairman, Profesor Dato’ Dr Mohammad Redzuan Othman.
“For Federal, led by Umno or Barisan Nasional, citizens’ confidence or perception that it is excellent or exceptionally good was only 29% , Selangor 49%, Penang 40% and PAS Government in Kelantan 39%.
“This is the whole picture on Malaysians’ view on what is happening at the Federal level, however, when asked about Selangor, they gave good responds, what Malaysians as a whole think of Selangor, 49% of them said that Selangor Government is excellent.

“That was asking people living outside Selangor, if we ask people who lives in Selangor surely the percentage will be more. This means that they Selangor as being far more outstanding,” he said at the media conference on 2017 Malaysian Survey, #MoodRakyat – Malaysian Communities’ Trend on Current Issues Survey, held at IDE Auditorium, IDE Building, yesterday.
He said, the result showed that citizens have a high level of confidence on oppositions’ ability to govern effectively as proven by Selangor, Penang and Kelantan Governments.
He explained that, in that survey involving 4,486 respondents from a total of 12,082,403 Malaysian voters, only 8% rated the Federal Government as outstanding followed by 21% said it is excellent, 41% moderate and 21% unsatisfactory. Another 10% rated it as very unsatisfactory.
Meanwhile, for the Selangor Government, 11% respondents agreed that it is outstanding, 38% rated it as excellent, 46% moderate and 6% rated it as unsatisfactory and very unsatisfactory.
The survey was conducted simultaneously across Peninsular Malaysia in real time from August 11 to 16, involving 64 enumerators from public and private higher education institutions across the peninsular.
The students were from Universiti of Malaya (UM), International Islamic University (UIAA), Mara Technology University (UITM), Selangor International Islamic University Collegge (KUIS) and Malaysian Islamic Science University (USIM), National University of Malaysia (UKM), Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Kelantan Malaysian University (UMK), University of Selangor (UNISEL).
The survey was conducted face-to-face using ‘tab’ application developed by IDE themselves to allow its centre in Shah Alam obtain the results immediately.
