Preserve customs and culture, drive local youth development

BY ERMIZI MUHAMAD
SHAH ALAM, AUG 24: The youths in the state are recommended to play a role in continuing to uphold their cultural principles and strengthen their sense of identity to dignify their racial values.
The Youth, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development Exco, Amirudin Shari said those principles will enable youths in Selangor to thrive forward while holding on to their customary and cultural values.
“The world which is moving fast with rapid technological advancement must be consistent with humanity, intellect, morality and identity development. Therefore, Selangor youths must be resilient to defend civilisation, customs, culture and community unity as these are factors that will bring us forward.

“These are the ongoing matters that must be thought of, to make the people of Selangor more competitive, globally,” he said at the Townhall Session in conjunction with the Selangor Student Congress 2017, at Dewan Raja Muda Section 7, recently.
Amirudin said that culture and self-identity will support the success of the younger generation, given that they have an increasingly wide opportunity to explore various fields.
He said, the importance of these aspects are also recognized by State Government through various policies which do not neglect the aspects of culture and nation development.
“Although we are enjoying modernism, these elements must be preserved to ensure they are not lost with time,” he said.
The State Government has been focusing on potential development policies to encourage a more active involvement from youths in Selangor.
It include entrepreneurial and employment; leadership and organisation; information technology and organisation; society, social networking, culture and arts; wellness and health; sports and fitness as well as religion and beliefs.
The Local Youth Mobiliser realizes these policies to produce competent leadership who will become the agents of change for youths in Selangor.
