Care-giving service quality enhanced

SHAH ALAM, SEP 12: A total of 40 participants joined the Care-giving for  Disabled People and the Elderly in Nursing and Community Homes Course recently.
Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi said the course is organised to enhance the skills and care quality of the caregivers who are the carers and volunteers in care and community homes.
She said, a more knowledgeable carer who understands the best care method can ensure the welfare of those cared for are protected.
“Many caregivers lack the understanding on the correct caring methodology making them less effective to the target group.

“It is important for them to know the best and latest care method to handle these group more effectively.
“We have high hopes that this course will benefit and enhance the service quality in Selangor,” she said in a statement.
Participants consist of carers, trainees and volunteers working in Inter-Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK), People with Disability (OKU) nursing homes as well as private nursing homes for the elderly.
The course which was held in a hotel in Batu Caves lasted for three days and two nights, focusing on essential knowledge and training.
It encompasses general care, nutrition, physical care, communication and recreation, stress and stress management techniques as well as first-aid and emergency treatment.
