285,267 registered TAWAS members currently

SHAH ALAM, OCT 19: The Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (TAWAS) has registered 285,597 members thus far with 285,267 still alive while 330 have passed away.
SelangorKini’s search on TAWAS’s official website showed that 128,409 members have received their statements while 156,858 have not.
Based on statistics, the Malays has the highest number of membership at 194,377 followed by Chinese (51,659), Indians (31,509) and others (7,722).
The highest number of registration was recorded in 2014 at 49,566 compared to the first year in 2008 with merely 23,842 registrations.
This year, as of October 19, TAWAS has received 14,850 applications but only 9,815 were found to be entitled.
Managed by Selangor Children’s Heritage Foundation (YAWAS), TAWAS is opened to Selangor-born children meeting the conditions and application must be done before the child turns three years old.
Last August 17, 2015, the Selangor Children’s Trust Fund Enactment was approved to ensure TAWAS members receive RM1,500 each when they reach 18 years old.
YAWAS has also introduced Skim Khairat Kematian TAWAS where RM1,500 will be given to beneficiary if a member passes away before reaching 18 years old.
