SHAH ALAM, OCT 30: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali is happy with the enthusiasm shown by the Indian entrepreneurs in Selangor who strive to improve their quality of life.
Having announced a RM1 million allocation for 2017 to empower Indian entrepreneurs, he is now prepared to announce a bigger amount in the 2018 Budget this November 3.
“I have said that I am proud of the achivements in this programme. Therefore, this Friday (November 3), I will announce a bigger budget for this programme.

“How much? Wait till Friday. That morning I may be inspired to maintain the budget at RM1 million, or perhaps it may increase to RM2 million. Maybe. We wait and see.
“Nevertheless, when I say something, I do it. That is Azmin Ali,” he said at the 2017 Selangor Indian Entrepreneurs Programme Launch at the Midlands Convention Centre, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, yesterday.
He said, Selangor provides the opportunity for every race to expand their businesses through the HIJRAH Selangor loan programme.
And so far, through that programme, the State Government has allocated RM300 million to finance 45,000 small businesses in Selangor and more than 65% of the recipients were women entrepreneurs who received interest-free capital from RM1,000 to RM50,000.
He stressed that the Indians should be given creative innovation training which is becoming increasingly developed now including online sale and they should not be sidelined.
Besides that, the latest data from the Malaysian Statistics Department showed that Selangor has managed to reduce poverty rate from 0.2% in 2015 to 0% in 2016.
The Indian community is performing at their best with an increase in household income by 10.7% compared to 8% by Bumiputera and 7.3% by the Chinese.
