KUALA LUMPUR: Defense Minister Mohamad Sabu today dared former Prime Minister Najib Razak to repeat his name-calling remarks in the Dewan Rakyat.

Mohamad, fondly known as Mat Sabu said calling him a ‘Joker’ and ‘Cartoon’ Defense Minister in a program outside of the Parliament is an ungentlemanly conduct and a low blow by Najib.

“I don’t want to respond to a comment made outside (of the Parliament). I want to respond to comments made in Parliament. If the comment was made outside, that’s what people calls ‘hitting below the belt’.”

“That is not how a gentleman acts, come and comment here,” the Amanah president told reporters in the Parliament lobby.

During a program in Sungai Kandis recently, Najib was reported to have called Mohamad a ‘cartoon’ and a ‘joker’ who he claimed to be unqualified to helm the post of Defense Minister.

Najib who have also held the defense minister post twice said that Mohamad has been seen as a comic relief, adding that he had no confidence in the latter’s ability to engage with other international governments.

In his defense, Mohamad said that two months is too short of a time for anyone to evaluate his performance as Defense Minister.

“Its too soon for me to comment. It has only been two months, to judge someone who has only been here for two months, I think its not the right time… Just wait and see,” he said.
