PKR man to PAS: Come clean! Are you cooperating with Umno?

By Syauqi Jamil

KOTA RAJA: PKR MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar wants PAS to come clean on whether they are working together with Umno for the Sungai Kandis by-election.

The Kuala Langat lawmaker said this is due to the fact that the Islamic party have stated that they will be supporting a Malay and Muslim candidate only.

“They said that they will only support Malay and Muslim only. But they do not dare to contest.

“I think it is better for PAS to tell us all now – are they supporting and cooperating with Umno?” he asked durring his speech at a program in Sungai Kandis last night.

Jayakumar who is also the Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister believed that Umno will not be successful in its attempt to sway PAS voters at the by-election, taking place on Aug 4.

Pakatan Harapan VS. Barisan Nasional 2.0

Meanwhile, PKR Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah who was also present said that Umno needs to form an alliance with PAS in order for it to survive.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chief Secretary said this is Umno’s only option, seeing that they can no longer rely on other components in Barisan Nasional (BN).

“How can Umno survive? By being best friends with PAS. This is what is happening, a cooperation in a way where Umno contests in Sungai Kandis while PAS won’t,” he said.

He added should this is the case for Malaysian politics, then the people are left with only two options — Pakatan Harapan or ‘Barisan Nasional 2.0’.

“You have PH that fought and defend the Malays, Islam, Bahasa Melayu but at the same time inclusive with Chinese, Indian, Iban, Kadazan in one line of leadership… against Barisan Nasional 2.0 where the Indians and Chinese have fallen while ‘Big Brother’ Umno marries PAS,” he said.
