‘Zahid never denied the problems of old government’

KOTA RAJA: Opposition leader Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has never denied that the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) governance has caused damage to the country.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said, rather than defending, the Bagan Datuk lawmaker on numerous occasions had attempted to drag down former Umno leaders down with him.

This is mainly Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who had helmed the premier post twice, with the first being with BN from July 1981 to October 2003.

“Any national policy that needed changes or improvement, we criticise. This is what I call the national recovery process, after years of severe damages caused by mistakes made by the BN governance specifically during Najib Razak’s time.

“(Zahid) in his speeches, has never denied the problem. But instead he tries to drag Mahathir’s leadership as well as other former Umno leaders down with him as if they were the ones who brought upon damages to the country,” he said.

Speaking to the public during a program in Sungai Kandis last night, Amirudin said that Zahid forgot how severe the damages in Umno had gotten over the last couple of years.

He said that it was so severe that people like Mahathir, Muhyiddin Yassin, Shafie Apdal and Saifuddin Abdullah had left Umno as they can no longer tolerate the wrongdoings committed by Umno leaders, mainly Najib.
