KUALA LUMPUR: After winning the PKR party presidency unchallenged yesterday, it is confirmed that the party defacto leader Anwar Ibrahim will be eyeing for a Parliamentary seat next.

In confirming the matter, current PKR President Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that this is the plan though not naming any seat in particular.

“InsyaAllah, he will contest for a seat in Parliament. Just that it depends on which seat,” she told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Yesterday, after being unopposed, Anwar unofficially won the party presidency post.

The post however requires an auditor needs to be appointed by the new party leadership prior to making the result official.

The appointment is scheduled to take place by Aug 19.

It was reported earlier that Wan Azizah on the other hand will not be contesting for any of the party’s top posts, and will not be defending her presidency to make way for husband Anwar.

Meanwhile, the party’s Number 2 post will witness the clash between incumbent Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali and his challenger, PKR veep Rafizi Ramli.
