KUALA LUMPUR: Incoming PKR President and current defacto leader Anwar Ibrahim today finally ended all talks of a supposed conspiracy to prevent him becoming Prime Minister.

This was after he welcomed Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid’s apology to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, whom Abdullah had previously made allegations against.

Anwar told reporters at the Jalan Duta court earlier that the matter has finally settled and urged PKR members to stiffen up the party structure.

“I thanked him for making the apology. It is now settled. We have to move forward to make the party stronger.

“We have to ensure the the party is in a solid structure… I advice everyone involved in the campaign to not abuse their power,” he said.

Anwar was referring to Abdullah’s apology last Tuesday to Mahathir for alleging that Mahathir and Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) chief Daim Zainuddin were plotting to prevent Anwar from becoming the next Prime Minister.

Previously, Abdullah had allegedly claimed that Mahathir and Daim preferred incumbent PKR Deputy President Mohamed Azmin Ali to succeed as Prime Minister.

He said this earlier in August while campaigning for party veep Rafizi Ramli, who will be challenging Azmin for the deputy presidency post.

The 2018 PKR election are scheduled to be held between Sept 14 and Oct 13.
