KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Deputy President Mohamed Azmin Ali today denies that there are any conspiracy to stop PKR defacto leader Anwar Ibrahim from becoming Prime Minister.
He shot down claims from certain PKR members when said that party elections has nothing to do with works in the government.
Azmin who is also the Economic Affairs Minister emphasize that Anwar will be the next premier based on a consensus among not only PKR but also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
“Certainly there was a consensus, not only in PKR but even PH parties that Anwar will be the next Prime Minister.”
“Its a party election. It has nothing to do with the government. It is a normal process that we have to go through every 3 years,” he said to reporters in Parliament.
Azmin urged that all PKR members move on from the issue and focus on the bigger picture of delivering their promises to the people, as one big PKR family.
“PKR is the biggest block in PH and we have been given the mandate by the rakyat, to deliver back to the rakyat, so we have to work very hard. That’s my role as a PKR member. Let us work together with a big family,” he said.
Over the weekends, PKR central committee member Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid had claimed that several parties, who had wronged Anwar previously, were again conspiring to deny him the Prime Ministership.
He said this when campaigning for PKR Vice President Rafizi Ramli who is contesting against Azmin for the party number two post in the upcoming PKR polls.
