KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Deputy President Mohamed Azmin Ali today declined party veep Rafizi Ramli’s invitation to have a debate on the upcoming party poll.
Azmin who will be defending his post against Rafizi thanked the latter for the invitation but shuts down the former Pandan MP when said that there is no sense of having a debate for the PKR Deputy President post.
“I would say Thank You to Rafizi for the invite but I don’t see the relevancy because this is an internal party elections.”
“This is not a presidential election where you want to get the involvment of the people. This is among party members and I believe we can discuss it within the party for the betterment of the party,” he told reporters in Parliament.
Rafizi on an interview with Astro Awani last nignt said he is prepared to have a debate with Azmin.
He said it will be humiliating if there is no debate as Umno too have held one prior to their party presidency elections.
The PKR party election is expected to take place between the end of August to the beginning of September.
After being unopposed, PKR defacto leader Anwar Ibrahim have unofficially won the party presidency post.
Incumbent President and Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will not be contesting for any of the party posts, and will not be defending her presidency to make way for husband Anwar.
