KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today advised comrade Johari Abdul Ghani to respect former premier Najib Razak eventhough the latter may now have fallen from grace.
He said even if Johari may have a difference of opinion, he should be voicing it out in a well mannered method rather than ‘stepping on someone’s head when that person is down’.
“I feel that’s his personal opinion. If someone who was powerful are no longer so now, he still needs to be respected.”
“Even if there’s a clash of opinion, there are other proper ways to state it. For me, don’t step on someone’s head while he’s at his lowest,” he said.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby today, Zahid was responding to Johari who in a statement earlier said that it was a wrong move for BN to allow former Najib to campaign at the Sungai Kandis by-election.
The former second finance said this was due to Najib currently facing corruption charges which would leave a negative perception towards Umno.
He also said that Najib is in the past and Umno will too if the party refused to move forward, change and defend its legacy.
