New Chief Secretary starts first day

PUTRAJAYA: Freshly minted Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Dr Ismail Bakar today started his first day at the office.

Ismail, 58, earlier arrived and clocked in at 7.25am at the Office of Chief Secretary to the Government.

In a short briefing, Ismail pledged to always uphold the integrity and the principle of righteousness in discharging his duties as the Chief Secretary to the government.

He also expressed his determination to strengthen the civil service’s delivery system by prioritising on cost management that is more efficient and effective.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad handed over the letter of appointment to Ismail at a brief meeting at his office in Perdana Putra.

Ismail officially took over the role of Chief Secretary to the Government from Dr Ali Hamsa who earlier scanned his tag and clocked out for the last time today.

Ali’s contract of service ended yesterday and he has since served as the Chief Secretary to the Government for over six years.
