PETALING JAYA: PKR will not be postponing its party polls to make way for the Port Dickson by-elections and will proceed as planned starting Sept 22, this weekend.

PKR central election committee chairman Mohd Rashid Din said the poll will start in Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Perak.

“There is no postponement, we are already full swing in preparation, 90 per cent ready,” he said in a press conference at the PKR headquarters earlier.

“PKR Central Election Committee will work with all parties to ensure that the process of the party poll is carried out in a fully transparent manner,” he said.

The PKR party poll is expected to end on October 28.

Previously, PKR Vice President Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin had proposed that the poll be postponed so PKR can focus on the Port Dickson by-election thoroughly.

The by-election was triggered after incumbent MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah vacated his seat to make way for incoming PKR President Anwar Ibrahim to contest for the constituency.
