SHAH ALAM: Barisan Nasional (BN) Sungai Air Tawar Assemblyman Rizam Ismail was today appointed as the Opposition Leader for the Selangor State Legislation.

State Legislative Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim made the announcement earlier after receiving the letter of recommendations from BN on June 27.

“The 14th Selangor Legislative Assembly sitting have observed that the appointment of the Opposition Leader is from BN.

“Therefore, with this I proclaim that Rizam Ismail, Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman as the Selangor Opposition leader,” he said at the opening of the second session of the14th Selangor Legislative Assembly sitting.

Previously, the Selangor state assembly was left without an Opposition Leader after BN did not appoint any replacement for Sungai Burong Assemblyman Mohd Shamsudin Lias who resigned on December 2014.

Suee Lim would later quip to the freshly minted opposition leader, advising him to not resign so that similar incident would not take place again in the future.
