The East-West Centre based in Hawaii, USA has selected the Managing Director of Smart Selangor Delivery Unit, Dr Fahmi Ngah as the sole Malaysian participant to an 11-day Smart Cities Regional Urban Leaders Exchange (RULE) Programme from the 12th to 22nd September in the United States of America.
The Regional Urban Leaders Exchange Programme is a dialogue and study tour programme designed to engage urban leaders in a multi-country, interdisciplinary examination of critical concerns and innovative solutions to building resilient and sustainable cities. The focus of the program is on key issues and best policy and practice options to address economic, technological and environmental challenges, promote social equity and more effective governance systems and respond to non-traditional security issues arising from global threats that could severely impact urban areas worldwide.
RULE brings together urban leader and policymakers, urbanisation experts and practitioners, civil society representatives, business leaders and officials from private foundations and international development institutions from cities throughout Asia, the Pacific and the United States. Participation in this program is by invitation only.
Other selected participants from Asia includes Juwanda Ajun (ICT advisor to the Mayor of Bandung), Tamanna Rahman (Officer Capital Development Authority Bangladesh), Rajendra Jagtap (CEO Pune Municipal Corporation, India), Merlina Panganiban (Head of Urban Development, Makati City), Setiaji (Head of Jakarta Smart City Management Unit and Imran Zarkoon (Director General of Quetta Development Authority, Pakistan).
