‘BALD & BEAUTIFUL 3.0’ EVENT RAISES MORE THAN RM 1,000,000 Khind Starfish Foundation, co-organizers and partners do their bit for cancer


SHAH ALAM – Khind Starfish Foundation, a non-profit organisation has successfully raised more than RM 1,000,000 in funds for three deserving cancer organisations.

Currently 30,000 – 40,000 Malaysians are diagnosed with cancer every year, and estimate the number will be doubled in the next 30 years. So every year in the future, there would be 50,000 – 60,000 people diagnosed with cancer. The ‘Bald & Beautiful’ is a charity event the Foundation and the Khind Group of companies undertake to help raise funds for cancer research and awareness programs as well as to support the cancer patients.

Themed ‘Bald & Beautiful 3.0’ – Go Bald, Raise Fund, Spread Love, this fund raising initiative helped gather donations and public pledges for Cancer Research Malaysia (CRM), The Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) and Kuching Life Care Society. These three non-profit organisations help the community through various research, treatment and post-care support for patients suffering from cancer.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Khind Starfish Foundation Mr. P K Cheng said: “The public’s awareness of cancer is low, many cancer-related groups need financial support, and the Khind Starfish Foundation has launched the “Bald & Beautiful” cancer awareness and fundraising campaign to raise awareness of cancer and raise funds to fund cancer research and help cancer patients”. He added that the ‘Bald & Beautiful 3.0’ charity event this year has unprecedented success because of the enthusiastic support of everyone”.

Through passionate and determined efforts, Khind Starfish Foundation; the Khind Group of companies; and its partners aim to raise RM 2,000,000 throughout the course of the event. In October 2012, the first “Bald & Beautiful” event raised RM250,000 and the second event raised more than RM1,200,000.
