Yesterday (28th November 2018) I had a meeting with Minister YB Senator Waythamoorthy, Deputy Minister Sivarasa, Exco YB Ganabatirau and YB Gunaraj to discuss the ongoing dispute over the the proposed relocation of the temple. I was also informed by YB Waythamoorthy of the request of the Prime Minister to find a solution to the problem.
The Selangor government stand firm and reiterate its commitment in finding a solution WITHIN LEGAL FRAMEWORK AND ACCORDANCE WITH THE RULE OF LAW.
The Selangor State Govt is willing to mediate discussion between the parties involved to find an amicable solution. The State Government cautioned the parties involved to remain calm, not to hold any assembly, refrain from making any forms of provocative statements and adhere to orders by the police to maintain peace and public order.
All statements from whatever sources on how this will be done should be treated as pure speculation until our formal announcement.
The Selangor State Government would also want to address and put a stop to rumours that circulated around saying that Selangor State Government will acquire the land. This is untrue and very misleading. Selangor State Government has ruled out acquiring the land as it will incur huge financial implications to the taxpayers money and set a bad precedent to future cases.
As the state government, we are committed to uphold the rule of law and act according and within the legal framework. As for the cases involving the attack on the temple and injuries on Fireman Officer Muhammad Adib, Selangor State Government have full trust and confidence in the police to investigate and take action to those involved.
YAB Tuan Amirudin Shari
Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor
