MAN DETAINED FOR POSSESSION OF 90KG KETUM LEAVES

PARIT (Bernama) – Police detained an unemployed man after he was caught in possession of 90 kilogrammes of ketum leaves at Jalan Datok Paduka Raja here yesterday.

Central Perak district police chief Supt Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said a police patrol team saw the man, who was behind a Toyota SEG car, behaving suspiciously and stopped the vehicle which was heading towards Kuala Lumpur.

Upon inspection, police found 13 black plastic bags containing ketum leaves in the car, he added.

He said the suspect, aged 47, tested negative for drug and had no previous record.

Police are investigating the case under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
