Selangor awarded ‘Destination of the Year’ MTC 2018


SHAH ALAM – Selangor successfully won the ‘Destination Of The Year’ by the Malaysia Tourism Council Gold (MTC) 2018 at the Palace of The Golden Horses, Sri Kembangan recently.

Tourism Selangor general manager, Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said they were happy that Selangor was recognized and had received the award by the MTC.

“This is the result of all the commitments given to make Selangor the ultimate tourism destination with unique offers.

“In fact, the number of tourists to Selangor is increasing every year, enabling the state to gain greater exposure for this year,” she said in a statement.

Noorul Ashikin said the awards showcase some of the best examples of the State Government to focus on, especially in terms of increasing sustainable tourism.

He said the jury also assessed in terms of tourism promotion, tourist arrivals annual stats, tourist satisfaction evidence and activity adjustments that gave satisfaction to tourists.

Last year, Selangor managed to contribute 7.4 million domestic and international tourists with a revenue of RM5.4 billion.

More than 80 awards were given to companies and individuals including the ‘Tourism Icon of the Year’ Gold Award for the Five Star Hotel at the prestigious award.
