MB: PR is still ongoing

SHAH ALAM – The Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR) programme alignment involves just a few agenda, while the rest continues as usual.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari, said the alignment also involved the enhancement of other programmes, such as the Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor programme.

He said the State Government implemented a number of strategies to ensure it is empowered and sustainable while not a burden to the upcoming administration.

“As Dato’ Menteri Besar, I am responsible for ensuring that the state’s economy continues to be balanced because it is useless to spend on it if it is burdensome.

“As in the winding-up of the State Budget last week, every group is always given attention, but the focus is slightly different.

“For the B40, we give a helping hand to reduce financial burden, while the M40 will be helped by enhancing their ability, skills, business capital and education,” he said.

This was said when Amirudin was wrapping up the proposal for the Budgetary Development 2019, at the Selangor State Assembly session.

At the same time, Amirudin said the Mesra Usia Emas programme was still ongoing with an allocation of RM19 million, but there was a study to link it with a new program, which is a senior citizen center.

He said the State Government is now at the stage of preparing proposals and costs to create a special programme at the center.

“Likewise with KISS, we do not cut but instead will increase the value by giving entrepreneurship and skills empowerment programs as well as empowering the the Power of Women center to get out of poverty in a certain period of time.

“As for the TAWAS program, we are thinking of the need for a system that generates investments so that we can incur a gift of RM1,500 to a registered Selangor child.

“The State Government is discussing with Permodalan Nasional Berhad to see how we can implement the investment,” he said.
