KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) says the entry of Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc, into the Oneworld global airline alliance is in line with its aspiration to strengthen partnerships with member airlines.

In a statement today, Chief Executive Officer Captain Izham Ismail said MAB saw this latest addition as the ideal match for the company, to extend connectivity to customers from within its network in the Asia Pacific.

“We are pleased to welcome Royal Air Maroc to the Oneworld family, and look forward to working closely with its team,” he said.

According to the statement, Royal Air Maroc was to join Oneworld, adding one of Africa’s leading and fastest growing airlines to the world’s premier airline alliance.

The airline is expected to join Oneworld in mid-2020, when it will start flying alongside some of the biggest and best brands in the airline business.

Its regional subsidiary, Royal Air Maroc Express, will join as a Oneworld affiliate member at the same time.

Oneworld is an alliance of some of the world’s leading airlines, and includes American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LATAM Airlines, MAB, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines and Sri Lankan Airlines, and around 30 affiliates.
