Smart Selangor Focuses on Economic and Social Development

KUALA LUMPUR – The implementation of the Smart Selangor agenda is not merely a smart state initiative, but it is an Economic and Social Action Plan for the people of Selangor in particular.

The Economic and Corporate Policy Advisor to Selangor Menteri Besar, Dr Mohd Zulkifli Zakaria said, basically, the synergy and the relationship between the people, the state, the industry and the technology formed the agenda.

He said the seamless business environment would encourage greater growth and shared ideas on technology, innovation and business will offer more efficient solutions to national needs.

“Over the past year, the State Government and the Menteri Besar Incorporation (MBI) have successfully built a culture of knowledge sharing and now, the benefits are also shared.

“Hence, the business community, government either at the state or central levels, should work together to encourage innovation to be explored at once, ensuring Selangor continue to develop a more sustainable model,” he said.

This was said by Monhd Zulkifli at the ‘Selangor Synergies’ Forum at Hotel Saujana yesterday.

Mohd Zulkifli said that in the recent State Budget presentation, the State Government through its agencies will drive the implementation of new development strategies through several clusters.

He said it was to ensure that the future of Selangor continued to prosper in terms of economy, social well-being and the environment.

“Through this forum, it is hoped that all parties can use dialogue space and exchange ideas.

“I also hope more experts and industry players can join this network so that issues can be identified and look for solutions,” he said.

The five-day ‘Selangor Synergies’ forum featured panelists including Central Spectrum Managing Director Dato ‘Mahmud Abbas and Northport Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof.

Additionally, Prolintas Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato ‘Mohamad Azlan Abdullah and Chief Executive Officer, Pearl of Technology, Puteri Mariana Abdul Majid were also present as well as the Moderator, Group Chief Executive Officer of IBR Asia, Dato ‘Beatrice Nirmala.
