#SIYEF2018 AIDS IN SMALL BUSINESS INCOMES

BATU CAVES – The Selangor International Extreme Youth Festival 2018 (# SIYEF2018) is believed to be able to boost the state tourism industry and provide opportunities for small businesses to generate income.

EXCO for Youth Generation & Sports and Human Capital Development, Mohd Khairuddin Othman said that in view of the growing demand for extreme sports equipment nowadays, it has been a driving force for producers to invest in Selangor.

He said the production of low-cost equipment, especially producers, also opened up business opportunities for small traders to sell more extreme sports equipment.

“Actually, as seen in the broader scope, this extreme sport can help generate the economy through various angles which also include the tourism industry, small traders and others.

“For example, fishing sport recreation if we remember in the 1980s, shops selling fishing equipment are somewhat less because fishing is only considered as the quest for small fishermen and hobbies.

“However, when fishing hobbies are commercialized as a recreational sport, the response has increased dramatically resulting in shops selling fishing equipment increased,” he said.

He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Selangor International Extreme Youth Festival 2018 (#SIYEF2018), at Taman Ekstrem Damai Damai, on 30 Dec.

Also present at the event were Gombak District Officer, Dato ‘Amirul Azizan; Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) deputy secretary, Azhar Samsuri; Acting Director of Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS), Nizam Marjugi and National Undergraduate Secretary-General, Burhaniddin Disa.

Khairuddin said, the #SIYEF2018 event that has entered the second year also provided an opportunity for sports entrepreneurs to open the sites for extreme sports.

“This situation will definitely create more job opportunities for human capital, especially in Selangor.

“I am optimistic that the festival is indirectly helping to promote Selangor more widely and not limited to this event only, but it also covers the tourism industry, small traders and others,” he said.

Previously, #SIYEF2018 offers a variety of extreme activities such as’ flying fox ‘,’ rock climbing ‘,’ abseiling, ‘paintball’, ‘tree climbing’, ‘jums’ and BMX bikes.

The festival, which has the full support and support of the international sports association, is also filled with activities such as ‘Social Media Gathering’, popular celebrity celebrations, ‘Instameet Gathering’ and ‘barber style’ competitions.
