SHAH ALAM – The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has confirmed that the chicken slaughter center that went viral on  social media does not have halal certificates.

Its director, Dato ‘Haris Kasim said the results of his investigation found that the nursing center was also owned by non-Muslims.

“The supply of slaughtered hens is sold to non-Muslims, so I advise people not to be discouraged because these chickens are not sold to Muslims.

“Therefore do not make any speculation because we also have a poultry slaughterhouse with halal certificates and it is monitored by the Islamic Development Department (JAKIM),” he said.

Previously, a three minutes and 40 seconds video footage showed an employee slaughtering some chickens without following the law of syarak before being allowed to die by throwing them into a large container of water.

The incident was believed to have taken place in Seri Kembangan, also showing slaughtered chickens on a cement floor filled with blood by several other workers.

Haris said he also reminded the public to act wisely before relinquishing an issue.

He said that following the video brought fear to the public to buy chicken.

“Actually there are a lot of chicken supplies that have halal certificates and can be selected in the market.

“So be careful before you make an issue and check it out before it is displayed for public viewing,” he said.
