BATU CAVES – Guarding the rights of other races, irrespective of the boundaries of religion, is the cornerstone of Selangor’s prosperity, said Selangor Menteri Besar, Amiruddin Shari.
According to Amirudin, the state’s prosperity is for all races to enjoy, including Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sikhs and others including Indigenous Peoples.
“I am a Muslim, but I have promised I will keep the rights of the people regardless of race and religion.
“Therefore, we must not divide the people of Selangor, we must be united and our attention must be directed at the efforts to boost the state’s economy so that we will become stronger and our state will grow richer,” he said.
This was said by Amirudin during the opening ceremony of the State Level Thaipusam Celebration at the Sri Subramaniyar Temple, on Jan 21.
Also present were EXCO Empowerment, Socio Economic Development and Government Concern, V Ganabatirau, President of Selayang Municipal Council, Suliman Abd Rahman and Gombak District Officer, Dato ‘Amirul Azizan.
Amirudin said he was proud that the Thaipusam celebrations in Selangor went smoothly to this day.
He said the celebration was organized since 2008 and has gave a great deal to the people of Selangor, especially the Hindu community.
“The State Government’s commitment is to ensure justice for all as long as citizens abide by the national constitution.
“The State Government is always thinking of ways to help the people and it is our priority, because the Pakatan Harapan Government has learned from history and will not make mistakes like the previous government.
“We assure Malays, Indians and Chinese will be balanced and happy, so let us leave bad things and prejudices behind,” he said.
